“…5 years ago there was a lot of tension particularly in Healthcare Financing, there was not a meeting of minds between partners…but one of the things we are proud about is that we brought together the different partners…we wrote a draft note which was later subscribed to by all the development partners….” These were the views of the outgoing chair of the Development Partners in Health, Kenya, Michael Mills, during an interview with GTZ Health Sector Programme Communication Officer.
Mr. Mills, who was also the World Bank Lead Economist for the health and educational sectors in Kenya says the collaboration between development partners will further be strengthened by the new constitution which will open up new opportunities for affordable and good quality health care through the Bill of Rights and decentralization framework.
Michael Mills has been one of the most active promoters of the Kenyan health Sector SWAp and of implementing the Paris and Accra Aid Effectiveness agenda. World Bank and German Development Cooperation, together with other partners, have been closely working together over the past years, particularly in the area of Health Financing, health Systems Development and implementing the AID Effectiveness agenda.
GTZ Health Sector Programme Communication Officer Olivia Okech in an interview with Mike Mills captures his views on the Kenyan Health Sector development over the past years.
